WeeCLAP is a parent/child interactive program that allows children to develop a love of music while spending quality time with their parents. Infants, toddlers and preschoolers will practice problem solving skills, gross motor skills, fine motor skills and cooperation during a C.L.A.P. class. Our themes travel from Latin America to Japan, Egypt to New Orleans, so that C.L.A.P. is like a musical tour around the world. Each week we will focus on instruments and songs that help children and parents alike foster a love of music of all kinds, and have fun while doing it.
I am excited to announce that WeeCLAP Winter 2019 session will be starting February 22, 2019. The classes on Mondays and Fridays are running from Elan Dance Arts located at 2466 Main St London ON N6P 1P9.
Music classes for babies, toddlers and preschoolers in London, Ontario
Class level is determined by age and skill development.
Level 1– parents and babies approximately 6 months to 14 months old. Once your baby is sitting independently they are ready to begin level 1. (Please note – these are only general guidelines. If your child is not sitting independently that doesn’t necessarily mean they aren’t ready for level 1. Please contact me if you have questions.)
Level 2– parents and toddlers approximately 15 months to 2.5 years old. Once your toddler is walking confidently they are ready for level 2.(Please note – these are only general guidelines. If your child is not walking that doesn’t necessarily mean they aren’t ready for level 2. Please contact me if you have questions.)
Level 3– parents and preschoolers approximately 2.5 years to 4 years old. Once your preschooler is following 3 part directions (ie: Go to the closet, get your shoes and put them on) and using sentences of 5 more words. (Please note – these are only general guidelines. If your child is nonverbal, or just taking their time talking that doesn’t necessarily mean they aren’t ready for level 3. Please contact me if you have questions.)
Level 4– parents and kindergarteners ages 4 and 5. Once your child has started kindergarten, this level is for you! Kids who are transitioning to the school system still need modelling and guidance from their grown ups, and you still want to be a part of the classes, since the kids shouldn’t be the ones to have all the fun!

Classroom and Illness Policies
I make every effort to keep the studio safe. Please tell me if there is anything further you would like me to do. Also, please be aware that for safety reasons we do not encourage moving around with rhythm sticks or sharp instruments. Putting instruments in mouths is a vital part of every child’s development and therefore we do not necessarily discourage this in our classes. However, we do ask that any instrument that goes in your child’s mouth be put in our ‘WET’ basket. All instruments are sprayed with a non-toxic antimicrobial spray after use in the classes.
If your child or you are sick, please do not attend class. There are many children who attend class who have compromised immune systems, as well as many pregnant women in attendance. Sometimes what seems like “just a little cold” in one child can cause another child to have serious complications. Please stay at home if you or your little one have, in the last 24 hours, had:
⇒ New or productive (cough with phlegm) cough
⇒ Contagious or weepy rash
⇒ Green or yellow runny nose
Talking in Class:
You are your child’s role model. Please save your talking to other parents for before and after class, NOT during class. It is distracting to the teacher and children.
Each class is restricted to 12 enrolled children and their caregiver. Spouses, grandparents, aunties, uncles etc. may be welcome to come check us out, but please check in with Claire before bringing anyone extra so we don’t overcrowd the room.
All MOBILE (crawling or walking) siblings must be registered and paid for if attending weekly. Sibling discounts are available by using promo code SIBDIS to save 30% on your second enrolment.
If older siblings sometimes need to attend due to PD/PA Days, March Break or Summer vacation, they are considered a drop in attendee and subject to drop in rates.
OpenCLAP or Drop in Classes:
Classes that are open to anyone (OpenCLAP)are offered at least twice a month. The cost to attend an OpenCLAP class is $7.00 per child. If you would like to try out an OpenCLAP class for the first time, please use promo code FREETRIAL to attend free of charge. If you would like to drop in on a WeeCLAP class already in session, please contact Claire to find out if there is any availabilty. WeeCLAP session Drop in classes are $15.00 per child, per visit.
Make up classes:
Make up classes are only available if there is space in the other classes or the monthly OpenCLAP classes. Make up classes are NOT guaranteed. If you would like to make up a class at the monthly open class, please contact Claire for your promo code to register free of charge.
For 10+ week programs, if you request a refund before the 3rd week of classes, you will be refunded the pro-rated amount for the remaining weeks less a $30 administrative fee. There will be no refunds after the 3rd class. For 4 – 8 week sessions, refunds are only done for extreme circumstances at least 48 hours before the first day of classes and will be less any banking fees incurred. If you need to withdraw from class and choose to keep a credit for a future session, no banking fees will be charged. There will be no refunds for drop in or OpenCLAP classes.
Try to get to class a few minutes early. Give your child (and yourself) time to settle into the environment, as well as attend to diaper/potty needs, etc. Children respond well to ritual, and it is very important for you to be at class in plenty of time to relax and enjoy the Gathering Drum with your child.
Other Studio Notes:
Please redirect children from standing, jumping or climbing on the Gathering Drums.
Please redirect children from running in the studio.
Please avoid bringing food or drink (except water) into the carpeted area of the studio.
